This paper presents a comparative performance analysis of conventional Perturb and Observe (P&O) and fuzzy logic–assisted P&O maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms for grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems. Both control strategies are developed and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink under varying irradiance and temperature conditions. Simulation results indicate that the fuzzy logic–based P&O MPPT offers superior performance, characterized by a faster dynamic response, significantly reduced oscillations around the maximum power point, and enhanced tracking efficiency when compared to the conventional P&O approach. These advantages make the fuzzy logic–based P&O technique more suitable for grid-connected PV applications.
